Special buses for Deepavali

The Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation will run special buses from Thursday, leaving Coimbatore for Trichy, Madurai, Dindigul, Theni and Salem, in view of the Deepavali festival.

Buses would also ply from Udhagamandalam, Tirupur and Erode to the same destinations, in view of the large number of passengers likely to use the transport services during the season. These bus services would continue to be operated on a regular basis till October 24, for passengers travelling to and from various places, for the Ramzan festival.

Transport authorities said that special buses would ply from Singanallur bus stand during daytime.

As a matter of precaution, the transport corporation has already issued a stand-by order to its crew, asking them to ensure smooth operation of the total available fleet for the benefit of passengers.

Availability of spares has also been checked. Transport corporation staff equipped with wireless sets would be on duty at bus stands to call for more buses, if needed.
