Maran for passport office in coimbatore

Union Minister for Communications and Information Technology Dayanidhi Maran has urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Minister of State for External Affairs E.Ahamed to set up passport offices in Madurai and Coimbatore.

He assured them that the State Government was willing to provide land/building for locating these new passport offices. In a letter to the Prime Minister, he said Chennai and Tiruchi offices each handle over 2.5 lakh applications.

The Western region comprising Coimbatore, Nilgiris, Erode, Namakkal and Salem districts could be covered by the Coimbatore passport office and the southern districts including Madurai, Kanyakumari, Theni, Tuticorin, Tirunelveli and Virudhunagar would come under the purview of the Madurai office, he said in his letter.

Radio City FM in coimbatore by March 2007

Music Broadcast Private Limited, which runs Radio City FM stations, has bagged licences to operate FM radio stations in 16 cities.

"All the stations would be commissioned by March next," Apruva Purohit, CEO of Radio City, said after launching the transmission of Radio City in Chennai today.

With the central government planning a big expansion of FM network, the scope for growth was very large, she said.

Radio City would start broadcast in Jaipur in a fortnight and in Coimbatore before March 2007, Purohit added.
