Coimbatore, June 25 (PTI): In a bid to boost sales at local farmers' markets, the district administration has come out with a novel prize scheme.
As part of attracting customers, the collector, Neeraj Mittal, has introduced the prize scheme by draw of lots at 'uzhavar sandhais' in Kurichi and Pollachi, official sources said.
A pot with empty lots and five prize lots would be kept at the entrance of the two markets and the buyer could pick up one lot, on entering them.
If the customer gets the lot with official sandhai seal, he could be the lucky winner of one kg of vegetable, they said.
There would be five lucky winners each day.
With the change of guard, the incumbent DMK government has started reviving the sandhais, which were on the verge of closure across the state.
