IT professionals should become entrepreneurs

Information Technology professionals should inculcate entrepreneurial skills to make entrepreneurship a mass movement, said R. Jayaraman, Director, Centre for Entrepreneurship and Development, Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai, recently.

Inaugurating a national seminar on `Network and Information Security' at the G.R. Govindarajulu School of Applied Computer Technology, PSGR Krishnammal College for Women, Coimbatore he spoke on entrepreneurship in IT.

"Think globally, act locally should be the watchword in today's context. Taking initiative is the first step in entrepreneurship. Seek and act on an opportunity. Any IT professional who converts his client's problems into an opportunity is a true entrepreneur," said Prof. Jayaraman.

"Learn to bring about innovations. Risk taking should not be looked upon with fear. It should not be measured only in terms of losing money, but also in terms of losing reputation," he added.
