Pumps, nameplates, stickers with forged ISI marks seized in Coimbatore

Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) today seized large number of pumps, nameplates and stickers with forged ISI marks, during a raid conducted at an industry premises in the city.

After receiving information, BIS officials carried out search and seizure operation at a manufacturing unit in Elango Nagar in Avarampalayam near here and seized some ISI marked self priming pumps, nameplates and stickers.

Legal action would be initiated against the manufacturer for misuse of BIS standard mark (ISI) as per the provisions of the BIS Act, 1986 and the offence is punishable by imprisonment upto one year or fine upto Rs.50,000 or both, P Radhakrishna, Scientist and Head, BIS, said here in a release.

Radhakrishna also requested the public to bring any case of misuse of ISI mark to the department for immediate action.
