Preserving Telugu culture and promoting the Telugu language were some of the important issues that were highlighted by the speakers at the Ugadi celebrations, jointly organised by the World Telugu Federation (WTF), Coimbatore Region, and the Telugu Samithi, Coimbatore, here on Tuesday.

Language classes
"This city was built by Andhra migrants who came here long back and we still maintain a certain bonding. But it is a pity that we have not learnt to speak the language. The weekend language classes that the Samithi has planned for the children will help our people preserve the culture," she said.
V.L. Indira Dutt, president of WTF and chairperson of Women's Entrepreneur Wing of SAARC, urged the invitees to start clubs in all cities to develop the Telugu language. She also underlined the need for celebrating festivals by coming together under a single roof, as a family.
Telugu film producer Aswini Dutt spoke on the greatness of the Telugu language that was acclaimed to be a musical language.
