If plans are afoot to furnish your home, make a visit to the Padmavati Ammal Culture Centre on Avanashi Road. The Mega Brands Show 2006 is on and the range on display includes furniture, household and kitchen appliances, jewellery, electronic goods and clothes.
The show from Interface Trade Fair is on till December 11 and known names from Coimbatore as well as brands from Mumbai, Chennai and Bangalore are making their presence at the exhibition.
In the 70 stalls at the venue, items ranging from suitcases and sunglasses to jam and squash and compact discs for children are available. Most of the stalls offer a discount of ten to 30 per cent.
Brands like Vivek's and The Trend furniture as well as Mr Butler's, Parry's, Camlin and Eureka have put up stalls here. Electronic goods on display include Sony S30 LCDs and Onkyo's home theatre that is priced at Rs. 38,000.
Music system, laptop, computer, refrigerator, digital camera, solar heater, gas stove and vacuum cleaner are available at special price.
Furniture on sale includes imported, marble-topped dining and coffee tables, wardrobe and crockery shelves as well as leather sofa sets.
Visitors can choose from garden furniture like trendy swings, coffee tables and garden umbrellas made of cast iron, steel and wood. There are also beanbags priced at Rs. 1,500 and sofa-cum-beds priced between Rs. 3,000 and Rs. 10,000.
Fitness equipments like treadmill and cycle, compact discs for children, good luck charms like lucky bamboo and a range of cosmetics are also on display.
Vasantha Memorial Trust has put on show booklets on cancer and also for sale are greeting cards made by school children and handkerchiefs embroidered by volunteers. One-gram gold jewellery, clothes, crayon and watercolour, chapatti makers, suitcases - name them, you might be able to get them here
